Murdoc Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Got to head up or down to Bennett Saturday morning for a little fun! I was up at HaHa Tonka hunting and decited to fish instead. Met my buddies there from Columbia. Temp was great and the fishing was hot. Not hardly a soul showed up before 9. We had the place to ourselfs!! The wind was calm also so sight fishing was on! I tried a couple things and went to the old favorite. Killer Worm! We walked up and down around the spring and had a ball. About 10 you could feel the temp start dropping. I hadn't been home to see my girls in three days so I headed out about 10:30. Caught about 35 fish and had a blast!!!! It was strange to not have many people around on Saturday fishing. Met a fellow rod builder from Nixa and his buddy. He cast my 1wt and now he's buying a couple blanks now! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/

Murdoc Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 OK!OK!! I found a really soft car chamois and used it. It's just very soft to the fish's mouth I guess. Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
rcguy Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks Murdoc! I have some white bunny skin that I have tied worms with but have not tried them. Guess I need to try them. I've heard of cutting up soft gloves also.
dave potts Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 OK!OK!! I found a really soft car chamois and used it. It's just very soft to the fish's mouth I guess. I bet that's right. A chamois has a very strange, almost lifelike, feel to it when it's wet-sort of slimey. Most are tan in color too which is closer to some aquatic worms. Dave

I'm thinking about an !/4 inches long and a bead in the middle or lead.
bikehikefish Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I didn't know nuns tied flies, but check out the video of this chamois fly: This version has the chamois hanging off the back of the hook only, instead of being loose on both the front and back. I like it better, as I tie it with some thin lead wrapped around the hook, which causes the fly head to point down, with the tail trailing above it. Deadly!
