Members Feltracer Posted December 28, 2010 Members Posted December 28, 2010 I have recently purchased a G Loomis venture 5 for my Orvis Clearwater 4 wt 2 peice 9 ft rod. Anyway here is my question. I have put about 80 ft of backing on the reel and 100 ft of WF4F line. The Manufacture states that the Venture 5 is for 5,6,7 line. I have compared size and weight to the Ross Arius reels 1.5. Theirs state 4-5-6 weight lines. Anyway, would there be any reason that I should not use this reel on my 4 wt? The weight is 4.80 and dia of reel is 3". Reels fits good, and balances well. Not sure if I am missing something

I just purchased a venture gloomis to replace a reel that was recommended for my orvis by orvis and I like the feel and balance of the venture much better ... it may just be my method however crude but when fishing. What is most important? Is it my comfort and pleasure or meeting a manufactures so called specs? tight lines <--- very important also!!!! Thom Thom Harvengt
