I have personally seen the effects of Global warming on stockton lake. Just yesterday, the ruark bluff ice shelf extended all the way out to the bridge. Today, it was only about 50 yards from the ramp. At this rate, it will be gone by Saturday. Hope you all are happy with yourselves.

Algore says the only way to reverse this trend is to cut off your motor when going thru this area. Use only electric motors!!!

Also, the crappie fishing was a little slow today. Found lots of shad so they are not far away and it was a great day to be out there!!

Crappie can be found from 30 foot to 60 foot deep. Just find the shad and fish under, in, or above them.

good luck!!

Thanks for the report! Last year at Ruark, around January, the entire lake was frozen and I noticed some really smart person had dumped about 5 bags of ice melt off the cliffs onto the ice by the bridge. I know this may be a shock, but it didn't work at ALL! Just chemicals for the water.

Any walleye bob?

I haven't been lucky enough to get into them yet, but have heard that they are with the crappie feeding. People are picking them up while crappie fishing. The crappie seem to be moving more this winter. One day they will be 30 foot then they are suspended in 60 foot. It's been pretty cold so maybe the shad are moving more than last year.

If you find the shad in less than 40 foot of water, that is where I would concentrate on the walleye. I haven't heard of any coming deeper than that.

Sorry can't help you more. With the wreck I haven't been out as much as past years, but that is changing as of this week!!

Anyone stupid enough to dump ice melt on a lake in an attempt to thaw the ice, probably needs a well, lets just say a talking to about not dumping stuff in the water. I am not sure I would even have thought about dumping ice melt to make a place to fish...Some people are just smarter than us, we just got to face that fact, LOL. If we could only have gotten a picture, that is one that could make a comedy show of some type!!
