Stoneroller Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Sports car racing is back in session!! These are real cars, with real drivers, driving in real conditions. None of that WWF/Neckcar smash into each other, throw helmets at each other, shoot up heroin before the race, can't drive in the rain, can't turn right-hack racing that is popular in the trailer parks of the south. Rolex 24 at Daytona!! on speed tv at 2pm today and will wrap up tomorrow on speed tv. Yes, they race all night. Tune in and enjoy what sports car racing is all about, endurance and driving skill. redbud Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 If I could afford a car and a team I think I would get a driver with a better attitude towards the series.I enjoy all kinds of racing, not just Nascar.Dont bash a sport because you dont like it.Most Rolex drivers would jump at the chance for a Sprint Cup ride.Open wheel racers now graduate to stock cars.20% of zero is still zero. Many races take place well north of the Mason-Dixon line,NY, NH, PA ,IL , MI, IN, MO.Tracks out west dont really consider themselves in the south either.2 races in CA,Vegas,Arizona.Looking forward to Daytona.Yeehaw.

Gatorjet Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 My 2 cents: Real race cars don't have doors and fenders Pavement is for parking lots, dirt is for racing Sprint cars don't have restrictor plates. 800 horsepower,1500 pounds, 100mph sideways, and wheel to wheel slide jobs. THAT'S RACING!!! That is how you used to get to Indy. Pay your dues in the bull rings of the East and Midwest in midgets and sprint cars. Work your way up to the Silver Crown Champ cars at the State fairs, and earn your way to Indy. Back when the only foreign sounding name at the 500 was the engine, Offenhauser, not two thirds of the drivers!!! Just good old racing. Today, "stock" cars? Go to your Ford dealer and ask for a V8 powered rear wheel drive Fusion! How "stock" can what they run at NASCAR be? Sports car racing, come on, white gloves and turn signals. Yes, it's all racing, and it's exciting, and each to his own, but give me that old time rock and roll!!! Like I said, it's just my two cents. Real men go propless!
Gatorjet Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 And, awhuber, the way they play in the dirt in your part of the woods looks pretty cool to!! Didn't know they did that here. If those guys could just learn to drive without a co-pilot they would be great in a sprinter! LOL Real men go propless!
Stoneroller Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 actually it goes, Dirt is for planting potatoes, Asphalt is for racing. Rally is the truest form of autoracing there is though. Hats off to those drivers as they are head and shoulders above everyone else in skill level and balls. Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Chief Grey Bear Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Many races take place well north of the Mason-Dixon line,NY, NH, PA ,IL , MI, IN, MO. Missouri is actually south of the M-D Line. actually it goes, Dirt is for planting potatoes, Asphalt is for racing. Rally is the truest form of autoracing there is though. Hats off to those drivers as they are head and shoulders above everyone else in skill level and balls. I don't know that I would say above everyone. Two that come to mind are Top Fuel drag racing and Hydroplane boat racing.
