Members James R Posted July 12, 2006 Members Posted July 12, 2006 Hi, I'm James and am 15 years old, next week me, my family and some friends are renting a house on the Lake of the Ozarks. our house is located on a cove, and we have a boat. sooo..... fishing-wise, im thinking the basic craw patternsand tubes for starters. Do you guys have any suggestions, whats the cover like, what should we look for structure wise. ill probably be fishing off of shore or a dock most of the time, I hear this place is "Dock Hot" and it sounds promising Thanks for any help or suggestions
Members jcmojo Posted July 12, 2006 Members Posted July 12, 2006 James, The Lake of the Ozarks is as you say "dock hot", but you will need to take your boat out most of the time to fish them. You might be able to walk a short ways from your dock if you have friendly neighbors. The shoreline is private so you will probably have to go with the boat thing. You can fish all around the docks as the water is public. Try to stay far enough away so as to not bump the docks you are fishing. Should be a lot of bass to be caught, but I will have to leave that to the bass fisherman to fill you in. Good luck.
Kayser Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 James, I am of similar age and I fish near the Hurricane deck Bridge, up the Osage from the four corners. I really don't bass fish, but last summer I caught a 6lb fish while going after crappie. If you are interested in crappie, just use a 1/8 oz bright colored jighead. Hook a medium sized minnow through the eyes, drop down to 12-20ft (don't bother if the bottom isn't at least 10), and start moving it up and down. The only thing I am yet to catch this way is a walleye, but I'm hoping to do that this summer. Remember, the fish like the shade more than you do, and light line (4lb) helps. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
