Zack Hoyt
River levels are 3.95 feet and 539 cfs. Water temperatures have risen 10 degrees this last week to 52 degrees. These are very good for this time of year. If these levels stay the same for awhile the smallmouth fishing should pick up. Best bets for flies will be patterns that hug the bottom such as crawdad and darter/sculpin imitations. Patterns like the Clouser, madtom, darter and minnow, crazy dads and creek crawlers and sparkle grubs should work well especially in natural colors. In the lower river, walleye and white bass should be beginning to stage for the spawn. Minnows and crawdads will be the best baits. I've been looking for a device that can do it all, for about $
