Danoinark Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Did I read this on an earlier thread (that I can't find ) or just heard somewhere they may experiment with 7 day C and R this year? I think at one of the other parks it was tried last year. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Don Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 According to an official at RR State Park, seven days fishing a week was proposed for RR catch and release season. He stated that a final decision has not been reached at this time. Also, he stated that the state was considering four days aweek instead of seven, (Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon). Meramec park fishes all seven days during the off season because they are not operated by the state and can wave their own flag so to speak. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Danoinark Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 Thanks Don. Hope it comes about. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Steve Smith Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I heard it too on the Friday through Monday C&R season, but still just a rumor. I guess we'll have to wait to see if it really happens. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 The only reason I could see not too, would be enforcement. There is a problem in that area, but with hatchery people available to report a violation to, I would think the benefits would out weigh the losses. When the Winter fishing first started you had to buy a daily permit and that required personnel, now they aren't required. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Steve Smith Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Enforcement won't be a problem because they have a full-time Game Warden year-round. Also last C&R season, they would have as many as a dozen agents at a time patroling the entire Roaring River park assisting during peak periods of usage. I can't speak for the other three parks, but RR has excellent coverage. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 but RR has excellent coverage. Sorry Steve but that hasn't been my experience in the few times during the regular season I've fished. But I do agree that 7 day C&R would be a positive move overall and not necessarily a drain on personnel. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
CaptainT16 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I think it would be a great idea. I know I have only fished it once, I was pretty pleased with it overall. A little closer drive for us. The only thing that I thought of too was enforcement, but sounds like they may have that covered then? 7 days a week C & R though would be great! timsfly Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Steve is right, we have good enforcement right now, better than the past few years anyhow, the wardens are in the park quite a bit, I see them almost every day, but you know they can't be everywhere all the time, and Jerry the hatchery manager is a game warden and he can enforce laws and he is in the park 5 or 6 days a week and Jimmy the park ranger can and does enforce the laws all the time, he is a great + for the park. Wayne SW/MO Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I realize that violations that only take seconds to commit will go unnoticed, but I see many that are obvious over a period of time, but maybe its just coincidence. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
