BolivarBasser Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I have been having trouble keeping my indicator/split shots where I want them to stay on my line. I have experimented with no success. I tried tying a simple overhand knot below the sinker/indicator, but I have a feeling that knot is adding a weak spot in my tippet, as I have snapped off flies on a couple of occasions when they shouldn't have, right where the knot was tied. I should add I'm using thingamabobber indicators. Any help will be appreciated.

Ive heard of some guys using a rubber band to keep those things in place- I just tend to avoid them for smaller applications and go with one of the foam ball type indicators with a doubled over rubber band to keep it in place. An overhand knot absolutely creates a weak spot- thats why wind knots are no good. Put the split shot right above your tippet knot and it shouldn't slide too much- but those things are evil and will never do what you want them to. Hope that helps some. http://flyinthesouth.com/
