Members smallmouth man Posted March 7, 2011 Members Posted March 7, 2011 I am taking my dad up to Pomme this weekend and we aint been up there in a while. We will probably fish around Bolivar Landing but we'd be open to fishin' the main lake as well. What I am wondering about is; What can a guy do to catch a good bass at Pomme this time of year? I really want to make sure my dad has a good time, and we dont get to go together much anymore. I'd really appretiate any advice. Smallmouth Man
DChance Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Lake is high an dirty up that area......clearer by the dam. Fishing is tough....tournament last weekend only took 10 lbs to win it. How do you like to fish? you can throw jerkbaits in the clear water near the dam or go to the river and flip jigs.....
Members Shad Attack Posted March 8, 2011 Members Posted March 8, 2011 I was out at Bolivar landing this past thursday. The water is very turbid and the fishing right now is horrible. I'd take the guy above me's advice and go near the dam. I'd Rather Be Fishing...
DChance Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 It was dirty and turbid, but the top 3 in the tournament all came from flipping in the dirty water....

The bigger bass in this cold water will most likely be more active in the muddy water. The dark water absorbs sunshine faster and it warms up in the afternoon. Look for timber, the bigger the better. They like to snuggle up to the wood to stay warm as well. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
