Members Zac Seale Posted March 16, 2011 Members Posted March 16, 2011 Fished for about 2 hours tonight from about 100 yrds north and south of Taylor's bridge. Didn't catch any fish. Probably due in large by the fact that I was working on my fly fishing and was not doing it very well. Also tried roadrunners with grubs, and swimming minnows. I think the water is just to muddy and moving too fast. I saw about 10 others fishing with no fish, so maybe I'll give the river a day or two to calm down.
Members tracman86 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Members Posted March 17, 2011 I used white and chartreuse rooster tails.I went to Taylor bridge on Sunday did not catch anything went below the Steele bridge and caught three small males on the rooster tails. Then tied on a blue with orange belly storm swimming minnow and caught a good size white on the first cast.
Members Zac Seale Posted March 17, 2011 Members Posted March 17, 2011 Nice! I'm going back tonight to do some more fly fishing, but i think i will start out up at the Orleans bridge. I am seriously considering taking a heavier rod and some bottom bouncers and crankbaits and trying to get some walleye moving up the river to spawn. I have had luck in the past but it may still be a bit early. We'll see.
OzarksRiverman Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I caught some big walleye about this time last year on white roadrunners. I was about 200 yds south of Orleans bridge. Seemed like I had the best luck real early in the morning.
Members Zac Seale Posted March 17, 2011 Members Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the tip, the water is up and there are some good holes between taylor and orleans to hit. I've got my waders and as luck would have it some white roadrunners to throw. Do u tip them with a nightcrawler or just the maribou jigs? Hopefully i can horse in a big sow in one of those holes. Thanks!

Thanks! Just the white maribou jig worked for me. I hope it doesn't rain today, this weekend could be good fishing up there.
