Members flounder pounder Posted March 13, 2011 Members Posted March 13, 2011 I understand Fellows Lake has a restriction on any outboards over 40hp, can you launch a boat with larger outboard if you only use the trolling motor? Thanks in advance, Jeff "I feel sorry for people who dont drink! When they wake up, thats the best they are going to feel all day!"
Trav Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 No you can't. Had a friend who even pulled the prop off his motor and he still got a ticket....silly...I know. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members CLINTC Posted March 13, 2011 Members Posted March 13, 2011 If I don't feel like going to any of the major lakes I go to fellows or lake Springfield, I pull the prop raise the motor and only use the kicker motor and it is not against the rules. The guy at the boat house and lady game warden tried to find a reason but it ended up being fine with them. So I do it regularly with no problems. Trav Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 They may have relaxed some....my buddy got his ticket five years ago....I would ask about it before doing it, Clint might have broke the ice for the practice...who knows? Let me know...I live close to the lake and have never been there because I have a bigger motor. Might be a bummer to load the boat on the trailer without the motor though. Members CLINTC Posted March 14, 2011 Members Posted March 14, 2011 I also pulled the battery to the main moter where it cant be lowerd to cheat the sysetem and they check for that every time. And if you call and ask and they will say no but if you show up with all your ducks in a row they cant do anything about it because its not agenst the rules. Members Ranger Dave Posted March 15, 2011 Members Posted March 15, 2011 I am questionings some of the responses posted. In order to use a boat on Fellows Lake you must first register your boat at the Marina, pay a registration fee (used to be $5 a year but maybe more now), and get a sticker on the side of your boat. The sticker states the horsepower of your outboard. To my knowledge, they will not give you a sticker unless you have a 40 Hp outboard or less. Boating without a sticker on your boat is an instant fine. I would recommend talking to the guy out at the Marina and see if he will issue you a sticker with an outboard larger than 40 Hp.
