Members bblinda129 Posted December 12, 2005 Members Posted December 12, 2005 Me and two buddies left saint louis it was 9 degrees. We arrived at baptist access it was 5 degrees. I waded upstream just fishing a white roster tail and caught four fish total, missed two others. I caught two browns back to back both were 18-20 inches. I also caught a 14 inch rainbow. I fished from 7:30 till 1:30. My eyelets and the bail on my reel kept freezing. I saw 11 deer and had the time of my life. It was tough fishing though. Best of all, there are two nice browns released back into the river to get bigger. I pulled out my fly rod and tried a prince nymph for awhile, but i am a rank amateur and hung it in a limb, my hands were too cold to tie a tiny fly on so I left. What a great day, and we didn't see another soul. Does anyone know if hunting is legal on the land surrounding baptist access? Thanks alot....Bruce
Sam Potter Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Yes, Hunting is allowed in the area you are talking about. There are hundreds of acres of National Forest land surrouding the river. There is also a lot of private land, so I suggest getting a good map from the National Forest Service so you know where you are. Happy hunting "A bad day fishing is still a Great Day" www.TightLine.Biz
