Members mdebar1 Posted July 20, 2006 Members Posted July 20, 2006 Hey everyone, Newbie flyfisher here looking to try out Beaver Tailwaters. I'll be staying on Holiday Island from August 2nd to the 9th - (supposedly Holiday Island is right by Beaver Tailwaters). I was wondering how the fishing in Beaver Tailwaters compares to Roaring River State Park in Missiouri. I've been to Roaring River Park twice and loved it both times - the only real drawback is the amount of people and lack of casting space, but other than that, it was a great place to kick back and relax. I'll probably pay Steve a visit at the dam store the first day I get in so I can get a few tips, but, could someone tell me if the fishing would be any good right off the coast of Holiday Island (not so sure I'd want to fish here, as it apparently isn't stocked). I've already learned a good bit by reading the forum, taking notes on what to use and how to fish, and downloading maps of the area. I've read about the regulations and am still a bit confused on some of it, but maybe Steve can clear some things up for me. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone and see if anyone can offer me any pointers. I'm really looking forward to the trip! - Michael
bobber Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 do the rental fishing boat at holiday island,, pull out of the marina and looking forward too the right, thats the mo state line !!>>>>> You turn left and go! 9 miles up river under the swinging bridge at beaver town , go till you come to a ramp that will be on your right (houseman's access) this is where the water starts to turn into trout water ,>> and is shallow with rock piles like a mine field,!!! next the second bridge that will be hwy 62 ( no- wake zone sign) if you can really see good current at the base of the bridge they are moving water it's safe to drvie any where (in the middle)the only fork you come to you stay left ,thru a little fast water and at the top of the riffle, your in steve's back yard at spider creek, ABOUT 45 MINS WITH A 9.9 FROM THE DOCK!! now from here back down to that boatramp it's all good! <*)))))))>< * AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION CERTIFIED CANOE, and SWIFT WATER RESCUE INSTRUCTOR.*
