Members Falcon Posted April 6, 2011 Members Posted April 6, 2011 Just wondering if anyone has been catching any crappie lately? The wife and I thought about making the trip over this weekend if the crappie were biting.
Bird Watcher Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 They should be getting right. I think I will hit up a few spots this weekend as well.
Members Fishinokie1 Posted April 6, 2011 Members Posted April 6, 2011 I hit Grand every April with my father. He lives 20' from the water near Honey Creak. From the second week in April to first week of May they are on fire. The lake is still low, but is coming up a few inches each day. Got some reports from indoor fishing dock, they are still catching them in about 12' - 15'. Another week of warmer weather and they will start moving into the shallows. Right with them come the whites! If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
Bird Watcher Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I think I will go tonight after work for a few. I'll post back how I do.

Bird Watcher Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Fished from 6:45-8:15. Water temp was 60.2 when I put on and 58.5 when I got off. Fished a row of submerged stumps on a channel swing in Elk River that I catch them on every spring. Caught and released two big females. That was the only two bites for me. Saw a guy catch two on a dock about 100 yards down from me.
Members Falcon Posted April 11, 2011 Author Members Posted April 11, 2011 Didn't make it over this weekend. The wife and I decided to camp out at Beaver Lake and stay a little closer to home. Between the two of us we caught 35 keepers Friday evening and Saturday morning. Fish seemed to be scattered from 5' to 15' of water. Caught them all on a Shinee Hinee 1/16oz jig. Color really didn't matter much. Wood seem to help but wasn't always necessary. Hope everyone got out and caught a few this weekend.
