9LB Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 We put in at Roark looking to bass fish about an hour before sunset. The darn white bass started busting so I started fishing them. I was throwing a small blue/chrome norman crank bait. I caught 4 in a row and then it was done? They kept breaking but stopped biting. I moved to a white jig, blade style bait, small spinner still nothing. Just a bunch of fish jumping around my boat. Any tips?
Members CrappyKing Posted April 8, 2011 Members Posted April 8, 2011 If you get to close to the busting fish they will spook. Shad sometimes will continue to smack the surface though. This may not have been the case, but try to keep your distance as much as possible. I've found for this type of fishing, which I do a lot in the summer in the mornings and evenings, a jerkbait works great. You can get a fast retrieve or a slow erratic one. And I've found that usually the slow twitch works best since it simulates a dying shad that there looking for. Good luck hope this helps.
