Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 lake temp was 59 clarity was normal. Crappie have been hitting excellent for the past week. I use 1/8 oz jigs most of the time due to the wind we seem to have on the lake most of the time. This evening, I dropped down to the 1/16 oz because we didn't have the wind. We got on the lake about 6 pm this evening and fished to dark, but time hasn't seemed to make to much of a difference all week. Everyone seems to be getting a pretty good bite in 2-8 foot of water. Work the jig slowly under a strike indicator, and pay close attention to the indicator. When it indicates, then it's time to go to work. We have had some really good fish the past few days and the fishing should keep getting better. Walleye are still hitting on the main lake points some, but they have slowed some over the past week. You can still pick up a few fish, but it's quickly coming to an end and they will move into a more active feeding pattern and be easier to figure out here in another couple weeks. If you really want to catch walleye right now, your best bet is to hit the main lake points closest to the dam with jigs, jerkbaits, and shad raps. work from the all around the points. If you are there during the day, use the electronics and locate the fish, then try jigging for them. We have still been catching a few, but to be hones, have been after the crappie more over the past week. I have seen some really big pictures of some really big bass. In fact, I don't think I gave JR Oldham props for his 8.5 lb bass last week. I will try to get the pic to upload with the report. I tried to photo shop myself in, but I'm not that good at computers. I would love to tell you where these fish were biting, but I just haven't had time to hit them also, i have some trips coming up this week, so hopefully get on some good bass before then!! Good luck and as always, feel free to call me if you need some help!! Members Basstard Posted April 11, 2011 Members Posted April 11, 2011 Bob - I am new to the forum, but have been reading your fishing reports for years. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate them. I haven't come across many guides who are as open and free with information as you are. I need to get a Largemouth trip scheduled with you!
