Nortrad Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Contemplating a trip down on Sunday, but the rain on Thursday has me concerned, especially when the river's at 1070 cfs and climbing now. Advice, Brian?
Justin Spencer Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 This time of year it is tough to plan for wadeable water much in advance. Just when I think I have the river figured out it surprises me. If you are floating and stopping to wade you can usually find spots unless it is way high. Going to accesses and walking in,it can be tough to wade (for me) once it gets much over 800cfs. Won't know until we see what kind of rain we get on Thurs. It will depend on if the rain is widespread or hit and miss. This time of year is driftboat time if you have access to a boat, you can fish most non-flood water from a driftboat and really slay em'. sean c Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 As long as I am in some sort of boat or pontoon the water color would concern me more than the cfs. We have had good wade fishing(don't forget the split shot) using pontoons to get around as high as 1800cfs. It looks like this current water rise is getting ready to crest if you don't get anymore rains it would be perfect this weekend. If you get big rains on Thursday it could be dicey.
Justin Spencer Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Looks like about 1.5 inches areawide last night, I'd have a plan B for Sunday I expect a somewhat big rise, probably above easily fishable. I seem to be wrong as much as I am right so keep and eye on the gauge, but it should keep coming up all day if I was a bettin' man. Hopefully 24 hrs. will bring a drop, 1140 and rising at 10:45 this morning. May have to go to Plan B if Saturday night doesn't look good.
Nortrad Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 May have to go to Plan B, or "C", as in "Current."
