I am planning on being up there to do some crappie fishing on Sunday. I am just trying to get a feel on when they seem to be most active feeding and also at what depths everyone is seeing and catching them. Any info would be highly appreciated. Also curious if anyone having any catfish luck or if it's still a hair early. Thanks to any or all who reply and happy fishing!

Almost 50 views added up since this morning and not one reply. Seems to me maybe the old "keep the crappie a secret" game may be being played here.I was under the impression that people on this web site were here to exchange information not keep it all to themselves.Maybe I'm wrong on this but if not it's a sure shame that we can't help each other out with something as simple as information.Oh well, I guess we'll have to just find them on our own and hope for the best. If some one does reply to this before I re-check I surely give you a million thanks in return.

Ill reply to it. First off the most important question is where are you putting in at. Up the osage will be the same as the niangua, but down on the main lake they might be a little bit behind what im going to report. I was in the Niangua arm last saturday, fish were in two feet or less of water. Im not sure when they are eating the best. We started at 8:00 am and three of us limited out by ten thirty. All caught on a crappie jig, blue and white and green and chart. As soon as the jig hit the water i would slowly reel it back to the boat trying to keep it down about a foot and a half. They were mostly males, so this weekend should be when the big females come up. Hope this helps. You should have no problem catching a ton of crappie up there right now.

Put in at gale access today at 1000 had 10 year old with me playing hookie cause she had perfect attendance for year so far. The day was for her we fished until 200 had 11 keepers. I caught one and baited her hook with minnows while fishing a jig, if you count lost and missedd fish we should have had 2 to 3 times as many all on her minnow 2 ft. below a bobber close to any brush next to the bank. The cold front coming tommorrow will probably change things, such is fishing. That was what went on today. Fun day had by all!!

Fished from noon till 530 and limited, but, was bass fishing 70 % of that time. I actually caught a very nice 12 inch crappie on a crank bait. When targeting crappie, All I caught were in a range of 2 foot to 15 foot. I used a white / blue grub on a 1/16 oz plain jighead. NOT A SINGLE BITE ON MINNOWS... I talked to a few guys that were getting hammered on minnows, and they said that they were doing good as long as you could keep the catfish from taking the minnow. That is all I know about cats right now. Their boat was sitting in the back of a cove in 4 foot of water and they were casting under a float in maybe 2 fow.

You will need to give some people more time than 8 hours to reply. Happy fishing.

Sorry guys. Not trying to be a jerk.Like I said, I'm just doing everything I can to ensure my daughter has a succesful trip this weekend.I would like to see her join the fishing ranks with all of us instead of some of the alternatives we see our younger people getting into these days. Thanks for all the advice and good fishing to all.
