RSBreth Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I've been catching a few here and there this past week. Find slow water, find timber over a hard bottom in about 3- to 5-feet of water and you may find a few. Not a mud or silt bottom mind you, it has to be firm - gravel or rock. Not many numbers a but a few really nice size for the river.
OzarksRiverman Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I've caught a few crappie just below Ned Reynolds old house (not sure if he still lives there). Along that bluff is the only place I've caught any.
OzarkFishman Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Got a few crappie yesterday in my kayak. The wind was brutal (especially the gusts). White was the winning color of the day. OzarkFishman
OzarksRiverman Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Nice. What stretch did you catch those on? Above Riverside?
RSBreth Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 The Finley 's pretty blown out today - it's looking mean and still rising. Crappies are probably hunkering down.
OzarkFishman Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Below Riverside. Went to the park this morning just to check the water. It was chocolate brown and moving. I wet a line for a while to waste some time. 2 ducks buzzed not 15 feet above me, which was pretty cool. The water will be into the park tonight if it isn't already. On a side note, I was on my way to Bolivar yesterday and saw 2 deer crossing 65. They were both in the median, when one decided to make a break for the other side ... wrong decision. It was like I knew it was going to get hit before it happened. I saw a semi coming (good thing it was a semi), and I knew what was about to happen. The deer just trotted right out in front of the semi and like a good semi driver does he just barged through the deer. The deer did a 360 and went probably 3 or 4 feet in the air and landed in the grass on the far side of the highway. While I didn't want to see it happen, it was neat to see. OzarkFishman
