Skeeter ZX190 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Put in at Brown Bend and went 2 miles down stream into a big cove on the south side. Found the crappie shallow. Brought home 15 for a hot oil bath. I probably caught between 75 and 100 fish. Most were too small though. What I did bring home were all 10 inchers and above. Mostly males but I did have 5 or 6 females that still ahd eggs. Caught them on a 1/16th oz. white maribou jig under a bobber (18 inches to 2 feet). Also caught some on a bright yellow and white grub with a pink head (also 1/16th oz.) I also caught 2 small walleye, and probably 15 bass. I had one on that would have gone around 4 lbs. I was pitching my jig and bobber up under the catwalk of a dock. It pulled free but I doubt I would have landed it anyway becasue I would have had toget it over some dock cables and I was using an ultra light rod with 4 lb. test. It was fun while it lasted! Water temp was 61 to 64 degrees. Dogwoods were in full bloom.

Members Fishin Fanatic Posted April 25, 2011 Members Posted April 25, 2011 Glad to hear the crappie are still going strong...unfortunately I won't make it down there for another 2 or 3 weeks, but I imagine we'll still be able to find a few papermouths when we do finally make it back down.
