Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Water temp was 60 most everywhere I went today. the water color was excellent around the twin bridges. Crappie were hitting excellent on blue/black/chartruese jigs on a 1/16 oz lead head along the banks. We had some really good fish today with several fish over 11" and a few over 13". In total, 3 of us kept 39 crappie, 1 walleye, and 4 white bass. We would have had more crappie, but started a little catch and release at the end. The females were still full, but they were shallow. The rising water hadn't messed with them to bad yet, but with all the rain coming in things could change quickly. I have another crappie/walleye trip on monday, so should get a better idea how this rain will effect the bite. Bass have been drilling the spinnerbaits for the past few days. find a bank that has some wind blowing in on it, and you should find some bass. Lots of 14-15 inch fish, but some keepers are coming in also. Walleye are starting to pick up and are hitting jigs in 10-12 foot of water on secondary and main lake points and larger rock banks. This bite should really pick up over the next week!! Catfish- find the feeder creeks, go way back into them, and put on a shrimp, night crawler, or shad sides and hang on. This is a temp bite, but as long as the water is coming in, you should find the channel cat feeding. Good luck to everyone, and give me a call if you need any help, I will do what I can!! My son and I had a great day on stockton too. We caught our fish in the pockets of the coves about 5 to 8 feet from the bank. We were throwing blue and white baby shads and white slab hunters.
Thunderin Gobbler Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Sounds like they are still biting good up there Bob. Too bad I can't make it up there for a while. Gotta get packed to take a bunch of kids turkey hunting in Kentucky this weekend.
