Members crappie jigger Posted May 4, 2011 Members Posted May 4, 2011 Fished Fairfield area last couple of evenings after work. The fishing was very good. Fished the coves with gravel banks. throwing a 1/16 oz.road runner head with a orange and chartreuse tube jig. Fish were out about. 5 to 6 feet from the bank. Lots of 9 to 9 half inch males.the bigger females were holding tighter to the wood.Good Luck!
Skeeter ZX190 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Do you know what the water temperature was? And did the females still have eggs? Thanks for the report.
Members crappie jigger Posted May 4, 2011 Author Members Posted May 4, 2011 Do you know what the water temperature was? And did the females still have eggs? Thanks for the report. Most all the females were still full of eggs. Didn't check the water temp Going to try again today after work Looks to me like its going to be a great week to be on the water. If only we didn't have to work for living
rangerz21 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 water temps are about 61 lakewide unless you go up the major creeks
shaker Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 A friend and myself fished the Bucksaw area yesterday and just guessing caught 75 to 100 crappie mostly along the bamks. The smaller males are moving up tight with the bigger fish coming a little farther off the banks. These were mostly 9 to 10 inch fish with a few bigger females thrown in the mix. The females are just about ready to "POP". Water temps were mostly in the low 60's, water color great most were caught on a 1/16 oz. roadrunner with a black and chartreuse tube.
Members luv2fish Posted May 4, 2011 Members Posted May 4, 2011 Any info on where to fish out of Fairfield for crappie would be appreciated. What are the conditions around there? High water? Thanks. I'll share my report Fri.
Members luv2fish Posted May 5, 2011 Members Posted May 5, 2011 in a boat or off the bank??? WE will be in a boat.
Members crappie jigger Posted May 5, 2011 Author Members Posted May 5, 2011 WE will be in a boat. Well went out after work today fished 2 coves not very far from ramp. The crappie were right on the bank many times you could see the crappie hit the jig as you started the retrieve.Caught lots of fish ranging from 6 inches to the biggest being 13 inches same color pattern as before orange and chartruse.Be safe out there the lake is starting to be a little bit crowded
rangerz21 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 go up the little pomme fish the pocket on the right with the road bed in it. also you can go farther up the lil pomme in the back before the bridge there is good pocket on the left. if you stay in the lil pomme and head toward the main lake stay left of the island fish the two pockets in the channel swing. not as good today as yesterday. kinda had to work for them today.
