ozarkgunner Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I'm wanting to float on Sat. from Hootentown down stream. Has anyone seen the river lately? Angler At Law
vonreed Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I was down at Hootentown 2 days ago with the kids fishing. The water is floatable and clear enough to fish. It's high and fast but well within its banks now. It'd be a fast float for sure.

I only got two smallies (both on cranks) but I think that was due to the fast water. The nice fish was the day was almost 17 inches so that made up for the slow fishing. It took almost two hours to get up stream and 30 mins. to get back down. My canoe only has a 2.5hp so it is slow going when the water is up. Angler At Law

vonreed Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 yeah I like it. you can't tip those canoes. I have the same canoe, just don't have a motor to put on it. you had it nice with somebody to steer the canoe while you fish too. you can really load those canoes down good with weight. it sucks to paddle them though.

I would look at buying a 2.5hp. They are $650 and weight about 28 lbs with an internal gas tank. Angler At Law

Ozarkgunner, How do you like the predator? What material did you go w/? How much was it? Is it big enough for 2 large guys? Why is paddling them so bad? Want to use to float , paddle as well as to put a trolling motor on it?
