Brian, what are the eyes that you used on it?

Thanks,

-Bob

Hey Bob, As far as I know those eyes are still not on the market. They are 'supposed' to come out in 2012 but I haven't heard a lot of buzz about them so not sure if it is going to happen. They really are great though. I have always battled epoxying, or super glueing stick-on eyes on flies because they ALWAYS fall off....but then some flies you don't want the heavy barbell eyes on either.....those eyes are the perfect "happy-medium" as they are plastic dumbell eyes that have no weight and they come in some HUGE sizes, and then some really, really small sized.

Totally respect the skill demo'ed.

What kind of fly rod/line weight is required to throw that beast? Can anyone make the proverbial 1,000 casts with it?

Myself, Aaron Scott, and Kyle Kosovich threw that fly (and flies like it, some much bigger) on 10wt's for several, several days. Believe it or not, the casting part wasn't the hard part for me....it was stripping that thing in an eratic retrieve. The stripping was a ton of work. We added it up (VERY VERY ROUGHLY) and we are pretty sure we casted it around 80 miles during the time we were on the Chippewa River, WI and Lake Vermilion, MN. I earned a whole new respect for streamer fishing during that trip.

Here are the videos:

Ya, I'm thinking about trying some aluminum sea eyes as they give the big eye look without adding a ton of weight but wish they came in plastic.

Yup, have some of those. They are REALLY good and actually last longer than those plastic eyes.

Totally enjoyed these videos. Years ago, I traveled with 3 buddies to the Chippewa flowage and I believe put in right where you did below the dam; although then, it had barely enough room to launch the Hyde driftboat. I was the only one in our party who caught a muskie that day. It was caught on a large chartreuse streamer in that tea-colored water. I threw it on a Scott HP 10 weight until I thought my arm would fling off. Found out that trip that Leinenkugel's have healing power. :yaeh-am-not-durnk:

It brought back lots of memories. Thank you very much.

Thanks Rich, I don't think the videos did justice of just how hard we fished.....and how much fun we had getting our hats handed to us during that trip. :) I hear you about the "healing power" -- but we had a good buddy with us that helped in that department and he went by the name Captain Morgan.
