Members teacher Posted May 10, 2011 Members Posted May 10, 2011 I'm considering a walleye trip to Greers- I used to fish the "Johnson Hole" on the south fork of the Little Red in Feb. & early March back in the late 70's & 80's when they had the National walleye tourney out of Fairfield Bay, and I saw some enornous(middle teens) walleyes caught. I'd like to come down because Beaver is very high and muddy. I want to camp maybe at Sugarloaf Rec. area or somewhere on the lake that might give me access to some active walleyes if that's happening yet. I BB and tie my own crawler harnesses and that's my favorite way to fish for them. Any info or reports would be appreciated. Can't seem to find any reports on-line. Are there other sites that give reports I might look at? Thanks again! Will report here when I come down.. "Teacher" walleyepro69@gmail.com
Members teacher Posted May 16, 2011 Author Members Posted May 16, 2011 I drove down from NW Ark. over the weekend to check things out- I'd heard the water was 20" high, so I wanted to check out and see what a couple campgrounds looked like for future reference. Water was still 19' high, but fairly clear near the Narrows. Report is that a few walleyes are still being caught, but much tougher bite with the water up. Things are to improve as the water stabilizes and starts to go back down.. "Teacher" walleyepro69@gmail.com
