Members Rodger Robbins Posted May 12, 2011 Members Posted May 12, 2011 Has anyone been out in the Shell Knob area this week? If so, could you give me some info on what's "popular"? Thanks in advance.
Members Ootsey Posted May 12, 2011 Members Posted May 12, 2011 yeah was just wondering the same thing. anyone know water clarity up there??
Members Falcon Posted May 12, 2011 Members Posted May 12, 2011 Water color is still pretty dirty around Shell Knob and Campbell Point. Kings River is starting to clear up and has some good color to it.
T-RockJaws Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Left out of the Shell Knob bridge last night, water is still heavily stained in that area. Fish were not biting well for us last night so I cannot give any advice on what to throw at them. If it was me, I would look for water with a little less stain and use some darker colors on my baits. Still a few big logs floating around, be careful out there!
CaptainJoe Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Fished there Sunday. Not good. Managed 18 fish, but they were all shorts. Water stained unless you go to the Big M area. Fish came in 3'-4' of water around trees using a white/char spinnerbait with white/char blades in the stained water. There was a very good spook bite (early morning and during the day with full clouds) in the clearer water, but again, all shorts. In Tucker Hollow, caught 7 fish on 6 casts. One spook landed two fish. Water temps in low 60's all day. Others that I fished with caught their fish using jigs in the bushes and carolina rigs. Good luck!
