Members Fishinokie1 Posted May 25, 2011 Members Posted May 25, 2011 Went to Masters area yesterday to see if there were any crappie still hanging around. Took my float tube to get up into the flooded brush. Found several crappie still up in the thick brush vertical jigging a red/white 1/16 oz grub. Had to hunt for them, but they are in there. All fish were caught in the backs of the brush. I fished the outer edge with no luck. You have to drop your jig right down in the middle of the thick stuff to find them, but it will pay off. You might want to bring an extra supply of jigs too... Most were short in the 8-9" range, but did find some keepers with the biggest one being 13". Also caught 3 bass with two of them keeper size. All fsh were released for someone else to enjoy another day. Just enjoyed the day and the sun. If you tube fish like myself, now is the perfect time to take advantage of the high water and use your tube to get back into the areas where others can't get to. One last note, always wear your life vest when fishing from a tube... I never go without it If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
Members Shad Attack Posted May 25, 2011 Members Posted May 25, 2011 i do the same kind of fishing from my flat bottom john boat... was the water any clear up at masters? i was actually thinking of going up there later this week I'd Rather Be Fishing...

You could still see about 2' down. I like the Masters area because it is kind of out of the wind. The point right off to the left of the ramp is great. It goes out about 40 yards or so. Last year I caught some nice walley on this point. If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....

Huck Huck, can't say I have been lucky enough to hook into one that will pull me around, but have landed some nice bass in this thing. The only bad thing about tubes is it puts you closer to the snakes. When it gets warmer, I lose the waders. Nothin' like a water moccasin swimming by then dissapear under the water. Can almost hear the music from "Jaws" If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
Huckfinn Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 oh their like bee's if you dont bugg them they wont BITE!! you, peskey old snakes. Huck
