Just a heads up for anyone planning on going up there and fishing the east side. The COE put up road closed signs, I guess they are annoyed by the fishermen on that side haha. You can say I didnt expect to drive all the way there and see that sign so it basically ruined my day.

Since I didnt want to waste the trip, I headed over to west side and caught a few but there were alot of darn sheepheads and carps mixed in between the whites, small hybrids and crappie...even managed a channel cat. But the weather turned too unbearable with wind and rain so that cut my fishing short.

PS: Not sure when they will open up the east side again so there is no telling unless you make the drive yourself.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm hopefully headed down saturday so I will see if it's still closed and let you know.

The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!

That's good information, any idea how long it will be closed? As far as East side / west side/, I've had good and bad on both.

looks like they are shutting the water off tonite. they were several concrete trucks down there today so they must be finishing up the repairs on the flood gates. They are supposed to be done by june 1st dont know if that what the cause was.

WARSAW, Mo.-- The Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers placed concrete for the first of three overlay monoliths at the Harry S. Truman Stilling Basin on May 6.

The public is advised that overlay placements scheduled for Wednesday, May 11, and Thursday, May 26, will close the East Bledsoe Ferry access road and boat ramp. All other boat ramps are scheduled to remain open including Drake Harbor which is located less than one mile downstream.

The monoliths will form a complete overlay that is 60 feet long and spans the full 180 feet across the stilling basin. The overlay project repairs erosion on the floor of the stilling basin caused by loose rocks and will cost about $2.6 million. While not critical, if left unchecked, the erosion could eventually threaten the dam's safety.

So are they putting some type of concrete structure somewhere along the road that passes between the dam and the basin? I assume Truman is to high to lower the water and work on the bank.

A friend just told me the east side is back open. But with little generation, the fishing was very slow.

I pushed back my trip because they shut the water off. Figure it would be pretty slow.

I just got home from Warsaw, fished Friday caught a few crappie and a 6 lbs hybrid 1 18 lbs Blue and three more under the 24 inch limit. Had to throw 2 back that were over 24 inch limit. The blues were tearing crappie jigs up. Fished again Sat. had 9 crappie 13 whites and a 5 lbs hybrid, the blues didn't hit the crappie jig fore me Sat. but I did see a few caught in jigs. All the white's came on top water so that a was a blast. Slider
