Members montana angler Posted May 26, 2011 Members Posted May 26, 2011 We are going to BSSP next weekend water looks a bit high, got any favorite flies?
FlyFishinFool Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 The water is up about a foot and a bit dingy, but is slowly falling. You can read what is recommmended in this report: http://www.missouritrout.com/weavers/report.html Bottom line, the higher & faster the water, the deeper & heavier the fly - try heavy bead-head wooly-buggers or maribous in bright colors. Another good way to fish the high/fast water (assuming the stream is not too crowded) is to swing a weighted soft hackle. * ´¯`•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((((º> `•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((º> .¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((((º> I look in my fly box and think about what should guide my choice of the best fly: the amount/angle of sun on the water, the water temp & clarity, what bugs are hatching, what the fish might be eating, and what worked last time. Then I remember what an old man told me... " Ninety percent of what a trout eats is brown, fuzzy, about 1/2 inch long and underwater."
Members Paul Posted June 1, 2011 Members Posted June 1, 2011 Fish on the bottom. I like Marabou Jigs in 1/8 oz. with gold plated or nickel plated heads. You can find them at Weaver's Tackle at Bennett Spring. Good luck.
