lake temp was 69 and water clarity looks good

Bass are hitting jigs and spinnerbaits fromt he middle of the coves to the backs. Most of the bigger fish are coming out of the flooded brush, however I have got some keeper fish out of the brush piles while crappie fishing.

Crappie are still scattered and are hitting crankbaits trolled in 20 to 30 foot of water about 12-15 foot deep. Catching some really good fish doing this, and only a few small fish. Most of them are 11" plus!

Walleye are still along the main lake and secondary points and are hitting crawlers, jigs, and some crankbaits. stay in about 20 foot of water and work your lure from the points to the inside of the points. Use the electronics to locate fish. they move some during the day so make sure you vary the depth and stay on the fish. There have also been some good walleye coming out of the brush in the mornings, but they are tuff to catch and not get hung up.

Got to get to the lake. Sorry about the short report, but feel free to give me a call if you got any questions.post-610-13070389123787_thumb.jpg

Thanks for the report Bob. Took my son up to CC last night, his first time in a boat. We caught several short crappie and about 5 keepers on slip bobbers with minnows. Most of what we caught were in about 17' of water and suspended from 5' to 10' deep. It was a fun evening on the boat with a 3 year old!!!

That's the pattern we found today for crappie as well. Caught ten nice keepers trolling for walleye. Only one walleye. Tried leadcore line for the first time. Like the results, but not the line. By the end of the day it was all kinked up. I used BP brand. Are there better brands or any tips for using this stuff?

luv2fish, what kind of rod 'n' reel were you using? Leadcore is very clunky. It tends to kink up if you're not careful. Set your spool tension to allow the line to exit the reel smoothly when letting out, but you'll still have to watch for overruns and hangups (catching on the guides). Never reel in slack--you need to keep pressure on the line, either with the weight of the lure/fish, or by running it thru your fingers, just like braid. Trolling rods have larger guides--that helps a lot. Core kinks easily--it's just the way it is. Keep an eye out for kinks and smooth 'em right away. Your leadcore should last a full season, maybe two, barring losses to snags.

If you use a ball-bearing swivel to connect your leadcore to your mono/braid/fluoro leader, that'll help. Of course, your leader will need to be shorter than your rod length if you do, to prevent guide damage and enable netting. Tie the lines together without a swivel, and you can reel thru the guides and have a longer leader, but you lose flexibility/twist reduction.

I use BPS Magibraid leadcore also. They're all about the same.

Nobody LIKES leadcore. But it freakin' WORKS, doesn't it? :)

powerdrive, thanks for the info. It weird, but only one color, the second one, kinked up. I think with more practice I'll get it figured out. It really does work and it's kind of interesting to to use.

sounds like you need to hit a good snag while trolling about 2.0mph.....That really takes the kinks out. TRUST me.

had another trip this morning, had a limit of nice walleye by 730 am. they were biting great. move up shallow in the morning, and move out as the day goes on.
