Members Nolan_Whaley Posted June 3, 2011 Members Posted June 3, 2011 I'm thinking of coming up to Stockton this weekend from the Nixa area. Kids want to tube a little, and then we'll fish some. I fish a lot with sun bathers on the back deck or towing. Any recommendations on a ramp that would provide easy access to deep water for fun, and fishing water not too far?
Thunderin Gobbler Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I would recommend the State Park area or Cedar Ridge. Those both seem to be the main places I see people tubing and swimming. Fishing is close by on any part of the lake. Just be careful because the water is still a few feet high and a lot of the trees that are normally above the surface are just below right now.
Members Big Bass Shawn Posted June 3, 2011 Members Posted June 3, 2011 I would also recommend Cedar Ridge area. That's where I mainly put in. People are always tubing around that area and there is a beach as well. There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
Members Nolan_Whaley Posted June 6, 2011 Author Members Posted June 6, 2011 Thanks for the advice! Wound up going to Mutton Creek, and skipped the tubing, just went fishing. Short run to the south cove of googer creek, and spent all day flipping baby brushhogs in the flooded brush and trees. One nice 2.5 lber, and a bunch of 14 inch fish. Nice fun day. Was hot, but good trip for first time to Stockton.
