Members Fishinokie1 Posted June 6, 2011 Author Members Posted June 6, 2011 We ended up with 7 fish and the coolest thing is my 3 year old caught HIS first official fish (he cast and reeled it in with no help). The bluegill were cruising real shallow and we saw 2 monster green sunfish. Also saw some decent bass real shallow cruising. Fun night, OzarkFishman That is great! That first fish starts the adiction. If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
Daveinozark Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 went above Linden with an inflatable. Like mentioned, the river looks a lot different now . There's an island that was up the way past the houses that's totally gone now I only caught 2 smallies in 3 hours of trying. I tried everything from topwater to plastics, it just wasn't good. I wonder if the big LM's got pushed downstream now. Caught 1 on a small brown spinnerbait and the other on a crankbait. Not much sign off life there either, few fish jumps and I was there early at 7am.

OzarksRiverman Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I did a little wading yesterday on the upper upper Finley (near Fordland) and I didn't even see a bass, just shiners and nibblers. I know this is crazy, maybe bordering on stupid, but the utter lack of fish in a stretch that usually produces has me wondering: Is it possible a lot of the bass population has been washed down stream? It did receive some major flooding.

I sunk a nice 6lb largemouth in the brush about a 100 yards from the dam, I was super excited cause that was the biggest large I have ever caught, (smallie fisherman), I was fishing a twin tailed grub, nothing but a bluegill the rest of that bank so a paddled up the side with the houses, picked up a few small bluegill, and a nice crappie, then paddled way up to the rocky bottom, saw some huge fish, but couldn't pick up any more. it was nice to get out and enjoy the quietness of the upper part, saw one deer, and a few snakes. the largemouth was well worth the trouble of lugging my heavy yak over the dam. will try to get on here on my cell and post up some pics, if not, will have to wait till i upload to my computer from my phone.

My wife had to be in Springfield Saturday and wanted me to drive down with her, so I took a rod and some lures and did a little exploring while she was doing her thing. Stopped off at Olga Road and saw one other vehicle parked there. I just waded up the creek for a quarter mile or so, and caught one 12 inch smallie and an Ozark bass. Didn't see much else other than a couple more smallies in the 10 inch class, and maybe one bigger fish (just an indistinct shadow under my lure).

Yes and no, that is where I fished, but it was on Friday, I took a half day off work... That's one of my go-to wade spots, and I usually do great there(now the secret is out) but this time I was amazed at the lack of fish. I don't what the deal was. What did you think of the creek?

It seems to get really shallow up from there, I haven't gone much further up. I try to keep quiet, I go there early mornings on the weekends and don't want to disturb the locals. congrats on the LM

Looked like decent water...a long way between good spots, but the good spots should have held some fish. The only smallies I'm sure I saw and caught were in the pool right above the slab. I like creeks that size. Oh, and the one I caught had a scarred up mouth from being caught before. It was mentioned on another thread that we're seeing a lot more hook-scarred fish than usual this year--maybe that stretch is getting pounded like some of the other creeks I've fished.
