Patrick M Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 How's the water on the upper james, say around Crighton, or Southwood, it was swift last time I was there, anybody catching anything there? are you talking the ramp there at southwood? if you are i went out tuesday and wednesday on lake springfield and caught one. i saw another gentleman caught a 5 and half pound bass on top water. i myself am trying to learn to fish plastics and top water along with jigs. i saw alot of areas where some big fish moved in the make lake springfield area around vistor center area. the water was not very swift those days. i have a small trolling motor and it did great with my boat.
Members springfieldfisherman Posted June 8, 2011 Members Posted June 8, 2011 Question - I know the limit on Lake Springfield is either 6 or 7hp. I have a 40hp on my boat, can I still be on the water and not use the motor? Also, where does the regulation for the lower hp start? I can run up in the river east of Hwy 65?

RSBreth Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Were does the river end and the lake begin? As far as launching at the Southwoods access goes, you're at the Lake in the eyes of CU: http://extra.mdc.mo.gov/documents/area_brochures/9410map.pdf The 40 is a no-go.
