So I'm making my first trip to Stockton this weekend for a small club tournament and in doing my map homework and Internet work i'm looking at the sons creek arm. Am I headed in the right direction? Or is any arm better to start on? Just trying to get as much info as possible. Seems like there's a lot of wood up there from the map. Greaser creek looks interesting up there as well. Anyways good luck on the water and thanks as always in advance!

I would say that the Son's creek arm should treat you well this weekend. I've caught lots of bass in there, and I know there are some big ones. Where is your tournament putting in at? Don't overlook the Mutton creek area either. It's real close, and good bass there too.

Sons creek is the place to be around the beginning of June, especially when the water is up in the bushes, u picked a good area. Should be a great flipping bite going on, as long as they don't drop the lake this week.. Keep an eye on the lake level starting today if u haven't already done so. If they drop it, it can kill the flipping bite. Pull out and fish a Carolina rig or drag a football jig on points. Don't forget the buzzbait in the morning around the bushes and laydowns, and if it's rainy or cloudy all day, which it might, I prolly wouldnt put the buzzbait down all day.

Set the hook first, ask questions later...

Uncle Josh, it would be far best for you to spend lots of your money to hire me to take you out and I would show you where all the fish are located, LOL.

But just in case you don't want to do that, sons creek is a good area. The keeper bass have been on points hitting jigs, in the MDC brush piles on big worms, and some are in the backs of the cuts in the brush, however this is ending pretty fast with the dropping water.

If you want to give me a call before you come up here, I would love to help you out a little with some spots (and I wouldnt charge you for that unless you are just crazy about giving me your money)

If you haven't been here much, its one if not the best bass lake in the state. Lots of really big bass, and lots of little bass too. You usually are catching enough to keep you interested, but as always, getting the big ones seem to be a little harder than the little ones.

Seriously, give me a call on your way and I will do my best to help you out a little bit!!

Hey Bob, he could always pay another person to take him out and not show him where the fish are too. lol I don't want to name any specific person or anything here, but you know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea they were dropping the lake that much. You guys are great. How can I get ahold of your guide service. I would def make it a point to schedule a trip with you. We are letting out by the dam. Might be a little bit of a run from there to sons creek. I'm coming down Friday to get acclamated a little. If u see a maroon triton 186 with a 150 merc wave! It'll probably be me.

Uncle Josh, I've never really fished the Sons Creek Arm but have heard many good things about that area. The past few weeks I have had a lot of success flippin a Texas Rigged pumpkinseed or watermelon candy worm in the Masters area and around the Cedar Ridge Rec Area starting in the flooded bushes to out around 12 feet of water. I've had a couple 30 fish days in the past few weeks and caught a quite a few 3 and 4 pounders around the Cedar Ridge Area as well.

Hope this helps,

Shawn

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
