Evolution Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Planning on a trip to this river in about two weeks and was wondering if anyone has any updates on this place? I haven't been down in about a year or so since I don't live near by but have always been itching to catch some stripers on swimbaits. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Last I knew was the gates on the low water dam were broke which was making for some inconsistent flows. We went out a few times to chase stripers and had no luck at all. The constant low water, I think, kept the stripers further downstream. We had great luck last year but this year has sucked. We are hoping that the Lower Illinois will be our saving great for stripers as they have finally cut the generation on Tenkiller Dam. There should be tons of stripers in the river with all the high water they had. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Evolution Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Thanks for the update. Although fishing may be unpredictable, catching up with old friends down there will make it worth it.
Okieflyfisher53 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I saw some pictures of some nice stripers and hybrids from the Zink Dam area this morning. The person that caught them has been doing best in the late evenings and after sundown. Steve
