Guest P. owensby Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Went to the Bourbeuse in Gasconade Co. on Friday, enjoyed the float especially with the extra water, although it was still off-color. Got to use Nuclear colors (Watermelonseed/Chartruse) which I hardly ever use, and had enough success to keep the day interesting. Although nothing special, it was fun. Here are some pics...

Those are some nice smallies. I'm headed down Tuesday if the river isn't completely blown out from the storms they're predicting. Hopefully I'll hook up with a few like those.

The Bourbeuse takes more time to clear up, but when it does, their will be some nice water for this time of year. Bonus for sure! If you do go, throw something with alot of color or flash!!! Or both...

Or both... The gauge says it's at 339. That probably won't be the best for fishing, but unless it gets above 1500 or so I'll probably float it anyway. Even if the fishing is bad it oughta be better than staying home. Thanks for the advice. I think you're right about throwing something with color and flash. I intend to stock up on good sized spinnerbaits before I head out. If the rivers pretty off color maybe that'll draw some attention.
Members Whiskey Joe Posted June 30, 2011 Members Posted June 30, 2011 I was down on Friday 6/24 also. Pretty good fishing from 6:30 till dark. At camp we catfished and caught a few on shrimp. A guy had year old shrimp in his freezer so we figured we'd try it. It outfished worms and shad, very impressive. Saturday we got on figuring it was going to be a great day considering Friday. To my surprise, hardly any fish. Perfect conditions, pre-storm & cloudy. But the fishing was definitely off. Sunday morning we caught a few as we made it to our take out. Total float was about 10 miles from Shawnee Ford to Mill Rock. All and all, beautiful float with fantastic gravel bars. Next year, we're going to try the Big Piney near Licking. We're looking for some better fishing. Last year we went from Wenkle to Peters with about the same results. jcarterpe@gmail.com, BURBIS license plate Canoe, jug of water, fishin buddy, & couple of fishin poles and I'm good!
