Members BleacherBum28 Posted July 2, 2011 Members Posted July 2, 2011 Thank you so much rps, Martin. Took my nephew, brother and pops out this morning. With your help we had a wonderful day. Landed 4 bass, but the table rock gods were teasing us. All measuerd 14.5. We managed a 2 lb channel and 1 keeper walleye @ 21 inches... along with a slew of blue Gill... family fish fry tonight. Thank you for your candid responses and wealth of info. You made my week.
Spinnaker Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Wow! I did not expect to hear from you so soon but I guess it is late enough on a summer Sat that the lake traffic is starting to get hot by now. I stay in Hollister near the dam so I have been a little upstream of the Kimberling bridge. Thanks for your perspective.

rps Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 I have been known to go out on holiday weekends, but I have a couple of guidelines. 1. I fish very early on the second or third day, especially if it is Sunday. Between the church goers and the hungovers, the numbers are down. 2. I go out after 4:00 or 5:00, especially if it is very hot. By then, many will be fried by the sun or the beverages they consume to stay hydrated. Either way they leave the lake. 3. I purposely change my outlook. I spend as much time looking for things to laugh at as I do fishing. There is just no point being serious when hordes over run.

That has been my plan when I come down in the summer. Early out, nap and eat in the afternoon, then back out for the evening. We have a few things in common. I tried civil cases for City of KCMO once upon a time. 30 years and have taken a break. I also like walleye fishing but have not tried too much on TRock as I focus on the bass. Once in a while I get surprised by a walleye while fishing crank baits for bass. Thanks for the tips.

I hear you on the 14 1/2 inch bass, but there are also many 17 1/2 inch walleyes in the lake... lol Glad you got a 21 incher !
Members BleacherBum28 Posted July 2, 2011 Members Posted July 2, 2011 Thx everyone. We were fishing a point in the main channel. Most fish came in the 25 ft range. As Forrest would say, dragging crawlers is a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. Trip to bass pros - $35 in gas Florocarbon line - $20 Four bottom bouncers, beeds and hooks - $20 Spending time on the rock with family- priceless
Martin Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Nicely done Bleacherbum............Nicely done ! Great looking walleye too !
rps Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 I just re-read this thread and my wife asked why I had a big smile on my face. The idea of a family doing well on TR on vacation does that to me.
