Members Bimmer Posted July 15, 2011 Members Posted July 15, 2011 Sunrise at 6am. Full moon this evening. May not pan out but we'll see while the temps are moderate. God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".
Members Joplin Matt Posted July 15, 2011 Members Posted July 15, 2011 How did you fare? I was at Fellows a few nights ago fishing from the bank, not far from the dock near one of the gates. As I unfortunately expected, I didn't catch anything. There were a couple of guys fishing a little closer to the bridge on the same side of the lake, and it didn't look like they were catching anything, either. A little kid that was with his family on that dock caught what looked like a small perch, but I wasn't going to be THAT guy and go take the little kid's fishing spot in front of his family just to catch a perch so I would feel better. :-) I'd like to try Fellows again soon, but it's going to have to be in the morning rather than the evening next time. It's been too unbelievably hot lately. I tried live minnows, a plastic minnow and a small propeller crankbait and didn't have much luck with any of them.
Members Bimmer Posted July 16, 2011 Author Members Posted July 16, 2011 I didn't even get a bump. Water temp was 85 degrees. Fish were scarce pretty much everywhere. The numbers got better as I approached the dam buoys but for the most part fish were no where to be found really. I saw a few lunkers breaching surface but I couldn't tell you what they were. So many factors here. The waters low, the water temps are high, we have a full moon albeit that it rides low in the sky. I'm going to give it a rest until this heatwave is over. The wife and I are going camping on the lower Buffalo River for our first anniversary. Apparently there's just barely enough water to canoe so we're doing that on Saturday the 23rd. I don't imagine the fishing will be worth a darn. God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".
