Members Adam Snodgrass Posted July 16, 2011 Members Posted July 16, 2011 Hey guys - I fished the Current this morning below Baptist, hoping to find some fish holding in the deep pools down there. I didn't have any luck but the canoe crowd showed up around 9, so I went upstream to avoid them. Skunked all morning until I tried a big hopper with a hare's ear nymph dropper. Caught a decent-sized rainbow and shortly later a brownie as well. Both of them went for the nymph. Water was very low and there wasn't much surface activity at all. Pics attached. Adam
Members Scudz Rule Posted July 18, 2011 Members Posted July 18, 2011 I was down on the current this weekend as well. I noticed two things early on our trip, one, there were big fish to be had. Two, there wasn't any insect activity to name. What's a fly angler to do? Break out the streamer rod! Break out the meatiest patterns you can tie. The triumvirate for me on this trip was, marabou, rabbit, and a sink tip. I caught rainbows, rolled large browns and finally ended up landing one at 9pm on our last evening out. i'll post a picture of the brown if you want proof.

OKFlyFisher44 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Streamer fishing rules...nice fish Scudz! Cant wait to get down there in Sept to throw some hoppers during the day and streamers early morning/late evening. Cant believe you didnt have better luck on the hoppers! Did you fish the shady banks with trees hanging over? There are usually fish hanging out there looking ants, beetles, and hoppers...of course, its freaking hot! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
