Hello fellow fisher-people. I'm Stephen James Hall, I recently, 2 months ago, moved to Sunrise Beach, MO. from Boston. I love it here. I'm living near mile marker 38 and still doing a lot of exploring. I'm also an avid mushroom hunter and I've found chanterelles, chicken mushrooms & a few varieties of edible lactarius since being here.

Previously, I haven't done much lake fishing. I've been a fly fisherman for quite a while. Fished with flies in the Sierra Nevada's(vacation), Oregon(lived there), Wisconsin(lived there) & Vermont(traveled from Ma regularly). I am, however, growing quite fond of lure fishing on the lake. I've been a catch and release fisherman mostly and I was pretty shocked when some of the locals told me the bass I was releasing were 'keepers'. No thanks. I am going to start keeping some of the catfish & crappie though. Probably in the fall when there is less exhaust in the water.

I'm on twitter @html_five if you want to tweet.

Welcome!! I'm not a bot either, but I do domo arigato, Mr Roboto... :)

I'm from down in Lebanon, by the trout Park... Lemme know when you make it down this way, I'd be happy to show you around.. We have not only a pretty cool trout park but also a nice trout river and two big Smallie river/creeks.. Fun fly fishing... (not to mention the periodic creek runs you have happening all around you down there)

Enjoy the Ozarks, and again, Welcome!!!

Mr. Cricket,

Thank you very-much-oh for the hospitality, I will take you up on that before too long. Going to hit Google maps and check out your neck of the woods... the trout park is at Bennett Springs?

Stephen

ps, You're a disc golfer ?! Sweet... I own a few records on Wisconsin. Lowest round at Bairds Creek(-17), lowest round for advanced/am at Telulah park(-8). I've measured a drive at 520' +. Rock'n'roll.

Wow!! Uhm, no.. You're a disc golfer, I'm just a schmo who owns a few discs and actually knows what the game is.. lol (round here that's relatively rare) I learned to play in Columbia, Mo (collegetown) when I was younger... Lebanon has a small course, but it's rarely used..

Yes, Bennett is the Trout Park, you also have a 5-10miles stretch of river (Niangua) below the park that holds trout.. The rest is also excellent Bass fishing...

There are too many awesome natural features, rivers, caves state park areas etc around here to list, but if you have questions feel free to ask... We're proud of our Ozarks and we don't mind sharing, providing you are willing to leave only footprints.. :)

I try not to leave any footprints either.

Yeah I looked up the disc golf course there and it has 1 star :(

That's cool, we just need to make up alternate tees and double the distance. I've played the course in Columbia once about 10 years ago, I think I scored a -5 or 6. Real nice park. I wish I could fish like I play DG but that'll come in time. I'm working around Camdenton and once this heat wave breaks I'm going to come down to Lebanon and hit some chains. I'll give you a headsup when I do, maybe we can throw 18-27 and make up some long tees. :)
