Fishing In Augest

Thought I might move this question to the right forum and see if it gets any response. I was wanting to take the boys on a all day all night fishing trip for they have never been night fishing and was considering fishing Truman's tail waters. I have a boat but would like to find a place to fish off land for the night. would really be nice to be able to pitch a tent as well. My real question is would I just be wasting my time fishing this time of year? I would have to drive a 100 miles so figured it would be nice to know if it is feasible or if I would just be spiting into the wind.

I planned on fishing with some live bait on the bottom during the night, Figured I could bring some large crawdads just in case I can't find some bait, but again allot of don't knows. any help appreciated.
