Roaring River Veteran Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 While eating dinner tonight my wife made the comment that the next time I went fishing she would like me to keep a few for dinner. I immedately translated this statement to, "Why don't you go to RR after dinner and see if you can catch some fish." Wanting her to believe that her wish was my command I quickly finished dinner and loaded up and headed to the River. I started fishing at 10 minutes til 7pm I started with a #20 griffis gnat. In fact that is all I fished with. By 7:30pm I had caught 10 fish and kept 4 nice fish. I also missed or had on for just a second probably another 10 or 12 fish. I fished the hole in front of the old lodge right below the low water bridge. I also spoke to a gentleman at the cleaning station. He and his wife had limited out on chartruse salmon eggs with a small weight about 12 to 18 inches above the hook. using a slow retrieve technique. The water is low but probably the best fishing I have seen all summer. Small line is still a must. They are also cleaning moss out of the river with a track hoe. They do this most years. It always seems to make the fishing better. I'm sure it dislodges a lot of scuds and murkys up the water. Good luck and Good fishing RRV Good luck and Good fishing RRV
