jdavis Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 So has anyone tried to float this week on the lower James? I thought at one time I saw that 3.1 on the Glean gauge was used as the MFL. Is there enough water to float below Hootentown or Kerr access? What has the smallie fishing been like early?
RSBreth Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Plenty of water for most kayaks or canoes. I floated before the rain last week and it was perfect. I've caught lots of smaller Bass this year, but not many big ones from the lower James.
jdavis Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 Crazy morning on the lower James Saturday. Cooled down with a nice breeze right at dawn. No one else on the river and the fish were feeding. Nothing very large, but lots of smallies, largemouth and Kentuckies hitting on buzz baits all morning. Even after the sun was high.
