Fall Fly Flingers

Just a reminder that our Fall Fly Flingers event will be on Sat Oct 22 this year. The money raised will go toward putting a wader and wading boat cleaning station at the Greer access to help prevent the spread of Didymo into our water shed. Didymo is currently found in the White river in Arkansas about an hour and a half away from here and this will help prevent its spread to our river. Didymo is an invasive algae that totally covers the rocks and can dramatically hurt the insect population that lives in the rocks that the fish feed on. Didymo is not here and we would like to keep it that way.

We will be fishing the Blue ribbon area on the 22nd followed by a free BBQ with a raffle. The proceeds of the raffle and a portion of any rented canoes and vehicle shuttles will go to the cause. If you are planning on coming to the fly flingers event, you may want to reserve lodging if you need it soon as it will be be booking up. Plenty of camping though and there are other places to stay as well if our cottages are booked. Let me know and I will turn you on to them. Hendrix Outdoors has donated a couple of rods and gear to the mix now as well. Phil Lilly, our gracious host, has offered up a spinning rod as well. Lots of good options for the raffle this year.
