RSBreth Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I finally got to fish this week, I got out of the hard cast last week and now, in the walking cast, I am free!(To those who don't know, I had my left achilles tendon repaired). Well, almost free. Free enough to fish the park here in Ozark. They have let the water level down at the dam to kill the water lotus, so it's a little constricted. Still caught a dozen little largemouths on jigs and finesse worms, mostly on timber near the bluff. Can't believe no one posted a report since my last.
Greg Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Do you wade and fish the Finley there at Ozark park? Is the river pretty acessible there? I've been meaning to try that this summer since I live in Spfld. RSBreth Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Uh, no, you can't wade fish the Finley at the park,it's a little too deep. I fished out of my solo canoe. Still, it's a fun little lake full of educated bass. Don't know who educated them... If you want wade-fishing access on the Finley it's few and far between. Mostly canoe and drag up or float down.
CaptainT16 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Yeah, when I lived in Springfield I always made the trip to this fun river. I always unloaded my canoe as wel at the park there and would go looking for the lilly pads and cast topwater (floating Frogs) over them and I always did great. My biggest was just over 3lbs and it actually scared me pretty good when he exploded on it. I only got to fish it maybe 5 times, but I always looked foward to fishing it. RSBreth Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 Yeah, the Finley is a great little river, and the park lake is pretty good for numbers of largemouth. You fished it when you lived in Springfield, now I see you are in "Do Da" (Wichita, for those who don't know the knickname)I live in Ozark now, but grew up in Wichita. Small world eh?
