Nortrad Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Or is it hit/miss? Just seeing if anyone has seen/fish/tied these. Seems like it would be a good part of a two-fly combo.
Justin Spencer Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Haven't seen any yet, but I tie up some orangish/rust pat's for when they are around, should be soon! Nortrad Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 Haven't seen any yet, but I tie up some orangish/rust pat's for when they are around, should be soon! Like in three weeks, cuz the Jedi and I and our familias are headin' your way. Staying at Sunburst. Look forward to seeing 'the crew' and getting some advice. Going to canoe in Jedi's 'Green Lady' and pull off, fish, repeat.
Justin Spencer Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Look forward to it, fishing should be good with or without the October Caddis. Nortrad Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 Look forward to it, fishing should be good with or without the October Caddis. Been trying to get this together forever, the planets finally aligned. First 'fished' there in 2007, struggled, slipped, fell, tried to mend, and eventually caught my first brown and a rainbow. Jedi hooked two big 'bows at the Falls only to have them shake off. It was summer, hot, and the afternoon flotilla of inebriation was, uh, interesting.
sean c Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Nortrad glad to hear you are finally getting back to the NFOW. I will be there for 4 days the week before I will make sure I get you a report.Good luck. Justin I wanted to swing in and see the fly shop this weekend but everytime we floated by we were to busy bailing water out of my boat to stop.

Thanks, we'll see if we can pick the riffles and spots and get some decent drifts. Either way it's all good in the Fall down there. And the grill and beverages await after the day is done...

So, to continue flaying a horse that's not quite dead, any thoughts on adult stoneflies or the lack thereof on the N. Fork? Seems like a Chubby Chernobyl in the right colors would be deadly.
Justin Spencer Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Can't say I've ever used a dry on this river and called it deadly, this time of year any hopper type imitation has a good chance of catching fish, but dropping something off of it would also be a good idea. Big stone nymphs are still the way to go day in and day out. Wayne SW/MO Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 How big do the natural stones get Justin? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
