I am considering a trip down to the Beaver Tailwaters in late October. I have fished the Norfork and White over near Mountain Home, Ar before, but never been to this area. Any tips? I know we always face the possibility/probability of running water, so how does that work? How many generators can be running and still wade fish? Any information would be helpful. Looking to stay at Spider Creek Resort, but am open to other options if better access to good water.

Thanks,

Matt

Dude, I would just go back to the Norfork or the White... But if you have to go to the Beav, spider creek is fine- there is not a ton of water to access either way. Bring plenty of 6x and 7x, small midges in grey, green and tan and maybe some small streamers. I think the water is still backed up from Tablerock so your drifts will be slooowwww. Oh and try a ruby midge. Good luck out there.

I agree w/ jason about going back to the white/norfork. Beaver is just a small trout water. Table Rock is no longer backed up into it so it is at a normal level. The one good thing about Beaver is the generation pattern is more predictable at beaver and there is usually more low water there. As for overall quality of fish, beaver has good numbers of fish in it but the average size is smaller than that of the norfork/white. Beaver is a great trout stream, just not in comparison with bull shoals and norfork. Jason is right on the flies. thorw in some size 8-10 olive or black buggers too and you would be good to go.
