We finally got back home last night around 9pm. The show was freakin awesome. To be among all of the greats of flyfishing was a treat in itself. Meeting people like...Jim Vincent, Joan Wulff, Randall Kauffman, Jim Teeny, Dave Perkins, just to name a few. And then all of the brand new stuff for 2007. Here are some of my takes on the new gear.

First off the Simms waders...Retail $699. A WASTE OF MONEY. there are only 2 differences in those and the G3's. the main difference is the zipper in front. then there are a couple zingers, and fly patches on t he front and thats it...deffinitely not worth 700 bones. another thing that a lot of the companys are coming out with are a knee high flats type boot for waders. Tons of new flies are out this year just like always.

Lamson Waterworks has a new line of reels out also. and they were the take of the show. They are extremely light compared to the older ones. Michael....the new color is a bronze/copper color and its not really the color that is the "new thing". It has a Hard Alox finish. it gives the barstock aluminum a stronger coating. i bought the litespeed large arbor. The new velocity is awesome also. all the components of the reels are the same, but they are almost half as light as the old models. They still retail at the same prices as the older models.

and im sure everyone is going to wonder about the new z axis rods. Truely amazing. they retail (590-4) for 650. These rods are deffinitely not meant for casting and indicator rig. If you want a rod that is a work horse, and that will pickup and load quick for casting dries, or for some good old highsticking then this rod will be for you. when i casted it, i could pick up 60 feet of line no problem.

orvis has made an improvement on the rocky mountain reel, and they have come out with a new battenkill large arbor reel also.

those were the major changes in things, if you have any questions let me know.

There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!

Thanks for the post motroutbum. Like you, 700.00 buckarooneys is way out of line. But I can assure you, people will buy them.
