Looks mighty cold in some of the pics from last year. How many of you here usually fish in this? My 10 year old son wants to do it as well as I, but I don't know about trying it. My biggest worry would be the road conditions that time of year. It's almost a 200 mile drive for us there. I've been debating on reserving a room for that weekend but am afraid the weather will turn bad and we wouldn't be able to make the drive plus be out the expense of a reserved room. Decisions, decisions. :hmmm:

I would definately recommend fishing this. Weather can be an issue getting down there. I come from St. Louis and have had to drive through some interesting weather before. Phil puts on a great tournament and usually has a good turnout. It is much more laid back than bass tournaments I fished in the past.

As long as your son has enough warm closes he will have a great time.

Thanks sms_alum, we would really like to fish it and may chance making reservations later this week while we're at Lilleys. We should be able to keep warm enough if the fishing is hot. My luck is having a foot of snow fall the day before. :(

I took my son with me to fish a winter tournament when he was 14. It started snowing as we passed through Springfield, and there was 6" on the ground, and roads, when we got to Branson. It took me 45 minutes to crawl my rig down Fall Creek Rd to Lilley's from 76. No fun pulling a bass boat on snow covered roads! The snowstorm ended with a severe cold front. 6 degrees below zero at the start of the tournament! It warmed up to 0 by weigh in.

He's almost 30 now, and hasn't missed a R.A.W. tournament. The weather didn't scare him, or me off one bit.

Do it, it's great dad and son time!!!

There is a good chance we'll be there for the Masters, Team, or both this year in addition to the R.A.W. Tournament we fish every year.

Real men go propless!
