Micheal Kyle Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Fished Sunday from 7 am to 1 pm. Very few people on the river. Fished several areas between the #2 outlet and the boat ramp. Fished with midges and San Juan worms with great success. Caught a total number of 51 fish, a good mix of browns and rainbows. A couple of rainbows were pushing the 20" range. Could of had more but stopped fishing because of the storm front that came through. jim To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Danoinark Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Fished Sunday afternoon in the rain from about 2:30 till 4:30 or so or until the generation started. Had some good hits on a triple threat caddis, most fish caught on a pt soft hackle, but sure didn't have the success Michael apparently had. Concentrated the fishing between outlet 1 and 2...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Greg Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I was there as well in the rocking chair area from noon until they started running water at 4:30 or so. My wife started fishing with me but gave it up when the rain started. I just kept going though and the fishing was decent even during the storm. The wife thinks I'm crazy. It really picked up for me right after the rain stopped though. I didn't even come close to Jim's sucess either. Maybe 20 or 25 total. No browns for me today. Mostly rainbows in the slot with a few that were 16 or 17". More fish on the zebra midge than anything else but I did catch several on a mohair leech and several on a tan scud. A good day even with the rain. Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
Members King Ming Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 jim It is good to see you put up a post on one of your Taneycomo adventures. 51 fish in 6 hours? Come on, give me a break! Oh, but wait a minute, you carry a counter and keep track of how many fish you catch during your time on the water, unlike some, who just make up a number. An honest count from an honest person. Members sasquatchmike Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 In Mid October of 2005, I caught between 10 and 15 fish at outlet 1 in an hour period starting at first light. The previous day, a Friday, my Wife and I fished approximately 7 hours, between morning and evening, and caught only 10 to 12 fish between us. Sometimes, you can hit it right and do really well, other days not so good. I was using gray or olive scuds(#14) and orange or red San Juans both days.
Members rls1936 Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 Many of us have caught more than 51 in a shorter time period. OK, maybe it was 49, maybe it was 52, doesn't matter. I for one sometimes keep track just for my records. You are off base to basically call someone a lier when you have no proof.
Murdoc Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 What color San Juan where you using?? Were they running water?? Does anyone know the approx times that they have been running water?? Thanks BO I trust your fish count! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Greg Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Those of us who know Jim know he's not just making up a number. That's ridiculous. There have been days when I've caught that many or close to it and kept track of an exact number just for the fun of it. jOrOb Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Fisherman + lips moving = lie I can do simple math! I for one don't really care if it is an accurate number or not so I won't bother to decide. Jim had a great day, and that is good enough for me. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
Members King Ming Posted September 1, 2006 Members Posted September 1, 2006 You are off base to basically call someone a lier when you have no proof. rls1936 Blow all you want, You are the one making accusations of some being liars, rls1936. Also, jim intentionally carries a counter to keep track of his fish count, just because of people like yourself. The thing that I am pointing out is that there are some individuals, who talk up their fishing ability, post on the forum and cannot keep or post accurate catch counts. I see, talk, and fish with some of these individuals on a regular basis, proof enough for me. The biggest problem I see is that some can't get over the fact that jim was able to go out and have a great day, by catching 51 fish, when by several it was considered a poor/slow day. jim should brag about his fish numbers, as well as his tying ability, and though he doesn't, I will for him. And if you can't handle it and get a case of RED RUMP, rls1936, then TOUGH and thanks for the good laugh! Now, I see why jim does not like putting posts on the Taneycomo part of the forum. That is too bad, jim has always been willing to share helpful info on fly fishing and tying to just about anyone. King Ming
